George Plaven

George is a former professional journalist with 14 years experience writing for daily and weekly newspapers. He has reported extensively on issues affecting agriculture, natural resources and rural communities across the Pacific Northwest. His passion is storytelling, with an ability to communicate highly technical subjects in plain language. Through careful listening and engagement, George is able to craft compelling narratives that appeal to both policymakers and the general public, leading to positive outcomes for our partners.

The outdoors. The Pacific Northwest has an abundance of natural resources that fuel our region’s economy, including agriculture, recreation and tourism. How we manage these resources determines the health and success of our communities — particularly rural communities. George has spent his career learning about these issues, and believes that stakeholders can reach long-lasting solutions through clear communication and collaboration.

Get to know George

Outside of work, George enjoys hiking, fishing and exploring the outdoors with his wife and dog. He grew up in Colorado, and is a fan of Denver sports.
