Former Federal Financial Regulatory Chief Rick Metsger Joins Pac/West Lobby Group
SALEM – Rick Metsger, former Chairman of the National Credit Union Administration and a 12-year veteran of the Oregon State Senate, has been named Director of Legislative and Public Affairs at Pac/West Lobby Group. Metsger will oversee the firm’s government and regulatory affairs efforts and help strengthen its growing public affairs portfolio.
“Rick brings a wealth of experience to Pac/West, not just the positions he has held but the teams he has led and the things he has achieved,” said Pac/West Lobby Group President Ryan Tribbett. “I’ve worked with Rick since the beginning of my career in politics, and he understands the intersection of policy and public relations in a wide range of industries. He is going to help our team merge that work to expand the depth and breadth of our services throughout the Northwest.”
Metsger served as Chairman of the National Credit Union Administration during both the Obama and Trump administrations. The agency regulates nearly 6,000 financial institutions and serves as the insurer of over $1.3 trillion in deposits. He was a voting member of the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) and a voting member of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC).
Before his federal appointment, Rick served for three terms as an Oregon State Senator, including time as the Senate President Pro Tempore and chair the Business and Transportation Committee. Under his leadership, the legislature passed what at the time were the two largest transportation packages in Oregon State history.
“I’m truly excited to be joining the Pac/West Lobby Group team and adding some of what I’ve learned over my career to this talented group of people,” said Rick. “I’ve always appreciated Ryan’s thoughtful and outside-the-box approach to problem solving, and I hope my experience adds value to the great work the firm has been doing.”
Rick founded two public affairs firms in Oregon and earned over a dozen awards for excellence in journalism during his time as a television and print journalist. Rick and his wife, Janet, reside in Salem.
